In chronological order, German intellectual centers like Berlin and Munich are the playground for Else and Greve. For both, Palermo is a landmark, and Rome impressed them at separate times ...

For Greve, Hamburg is of importance because he grew up there and received excellent schooling at the famous humanistic Gymnasium Johanneum. In Bonn, he studied at the city's venerable university, and later also served a prison term for fraud ...

For Else, her pomeranian origins are remembered in a variety of ways, as is Berlin at a time when Greve was still in high school. Then both of them lived in the capital, briefly in 1902, and as a couple from 1906 to 1909.

Again for both, New York plays a prominent role ..., though at different times and for different durations. Together, they experienced Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Sparta, Kentucky.

Just before he surfaced in Canada as Grove, Greve stayed on a Bonanza farm near Fargo. Then, isolated places in Manitoba
become Grove's home for nearly fifteen years. After a brief stay in Ottawa, he settled in Simcoe, Ontario, for the rest of his life.

Else returned to Berlin in 1923 ...
